What winterising involves
Closing a concrete pool for the season generally means lowering the water below the skimmers, blowing out and plugging the lines so nothing holds water, draining and protecting the equipment, balancing the water chemistry for a long dormant period, and covering the pool. The water level is deliberately left high enough to counteract ground pressure from outside the shell, which is why fully draining a pool for winter is a mistake.
Never drain a concrete pool completely for the winter without professional advice. An empty shell in saturated, freezing ground loses the counter-pressure of its own water and can lift or crack.
