Gunite vs Fibreglass vs Vinyl Pools: Which Is Best in Canada?
Read guide ›
Straight answers to the questions homeowners ask us most, written without the sales gloss. How they are built, how they compare to the alternatives, how long they take, and how they hold up to our winters.
The questions that come up on almost every first call, answered in full.
We design and build custom inground concrete (gunite) swimming pools — infinity and negative-edge designs, tanning ledges, integrated spas and water features. The same team handles the landscaping around the pool as well: patios, planting, outdoor lighting, cabanas, decks and fencing.
We are based in Stouffville, Ontario and build across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area — North York, Etobicoke, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Oakville, Burlington and Pickering — as well as cottage country, including Collingwood and Muskoka, and Atlantic Canada, including Halifax and Moncton.
Most of our projects run a single season, from design to first swim. Design, engineering and permits come first, then excavation, steel, plumbing, gunite, finishes and landscaping. Small senior crews and a schedule we commit to are what keep that timeline realistic.
We don't publish prices or ranges, because a concrete pool is priced by the property: access, grade, soil, structure and the scope of the landscaping all move the number. We come out and look at the site first, then put a firm quote in writing.
A concrete (gunite) pool is formed on site, so shape, depth and features are not limited to a manufacturer's mould, and we engineer the shell for your particular lot. Properly built, it is the longest-lasting of the three in Canadian freeze-thaw conditions.
Yes, when it is engineered for them. We specify the structure, finishes and equipment for freeze-thaw cycles, and the pool is closed and winterised properly each year. That engineering is the main reason concrete outlasts the alternatives here.
Yes. We work turn-key, so one team carries grades, drainage, hardscape, planting, lighting and structures alongside the pool itself. That is what keeps a finished yard reading as a single design rather than three trades meeting at the edges.
Our crews are deliberately small — two to three experienced builders per project — which is how we keep quality and timelines under control. Owners Bill Keir and Kris Cutrone lead every project personally, and your project manager stays reachable on short notice throughout the build.
Send us the details of your property through the quote form on this page, call 905 904 0302 or email info@libertypools.ca. We will come out, talk through what is possible on your site, and put a firm quote in writing.
Regularly. We work alongside architects, landscape designers and custom home builders, and coordinating early — while the drawings are still flexible — avoids the compromises that show up when the pool is designed last.
If your question is not covered here, ask us directly. Owners Kris Cutrone and Bill Keir are on every project and reachable throughout.
